I can fully understand someone 'trying' a cracked game to verify their equipment will run it successfully if demo is unavailable but beyond that I believe that using 'hacked' software is doing an injustice to everyone from developers down to us consumers, if 'We' consumers steal from the creators/developers you can bet that the parent company will look at these 'sims' as money losers and will not be eager to spend their resources on developing new products, you wouldn't either if someone stole from you. It is stealing and it is wrong, period. If you consider or compare how much enjoyment you get for your money investment on any particular activity, I seriously doubt you can beat a good 'Sim' for your hard earned dollars/euros. I've never seen $50.00 dollars go further or last longer in anything in my life, and considering you can legally purchase older/out of date games/sims for such a low price, it really doesn't make sense. Couldn't agree with you more!! GTR2 is the 'most bang for the buck' game i've ever bought. I finish most 50-60$ games in about 2 weeks, and never touch them again (Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2, etc.) GTR2 i've been playing for years.and still as addicted to it as the day i got it.

What any of us 'Can' do with a computer/internet might very well be considered illegal in a court of law, decide for yourself if it's worth it, I would prefer Simbin or others not needing a police force present to protect what is their property. I would love to see the day when 'modding' an existing platform can be profitable enteprise for all involved, and be legal at the same time. Just my 2 cents. Just my 2 cents. Every race sim enthousiast should realize that race sims is a niche market and that means that if publishers/makers don't make enough profit due to dim-witted copying and hacking, the race sim genre will cease to exist and we'll all be left with nothing. As stated above, race sims offer immense value for money, I spent 30 or 40 euros on GTL four years ago and I am still playing it at least twice a week.
GTR2 I bought for less and I played it regularly for two years or so, now only accasionally but I still enjoy it when I do. There is simply no game or genre that has that longeivity and replay value. I agree with both. I don't play race sims as frequently as redi anymore, but I will always be coming back from time to time. Other games, excluding some multiplayer shooters, are just single playthrough and uninstall for me. Considering how short the games are nowadays, I never buy any game full priced, but rather wait a bit longer and get it cheaper, if I know it won't entertain me a long time. Its legit, I guess the owning company declared bankruptcy and they're cool with that magazine giving the games away for free. That is pretty cool on their part to give the games out like that. They are legit if you have a copy of GTR2/GTL from the cover disk. They are not legit if you download a warez copy. As to 10tacle being 'cool cool with that magazine giving the games away for free', I would think the German system is similar to the UK system - when companies go bankrupt a reciever is called in and its their job to sell off what they can so they can pay the creditors something. The reciever will have sold the rights to put the games on a cover disk to the magazine. The thing is, there is no way the money from a purchased copy today will roll back to the developers because there are no copys sold because of bankrupcy.
Sure you can buy second hand on ebay, but then the the crying out about illegality of pirated copies is really about the poor people on ebay not getting their money. Paying ebayers money will not get us more race-sims, paying developers will, but that's not possible anymore.
