On December 21, Lauren Crepeau ’16 will speak on behalf of graduates at St. Catherine University’s winter Commencement. She was selected for this honor in October by a University committee of faculty, staff and students — based on high academic achievement, leadership and community involvement.

Crepeau, who hails from Stillwater, Minn., is a double major in communication studies and English, with a minor in women’s studies. She received the St. Catherine of Alexandria Scholarship and has made the dean’s list nearly every semester she’s been at St. In 2015, she was inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, the national honor society for communications students. “I strived to do my best academically because I know that it is my education and knowledge that will carry me through the rest of my life,” she says. “My liberal arts education will allow me to engage in conversations and work across disciplines, as well as see many sides of any situation.” Crepeau is a DupliKate and the fourth in her family to attend St.
Her mother, Ruth, earned her Master’s of Arts in Organizational Leadership in 2009. Two cousins Renee and Laura also graduated from St. Kate’s, in 2013 and 2015 respectively.

Since fall semester of her first year, Crepeau has been the publicity chair for St. Kate’s Colleges Against Cancer chapter.
This student club, which organizes the annual Relay for Life on campus, partners with the American Cancer Society to raise awareness about cancer and raise funds for cancer research. She is the social media assistant for St.
Kate’s Department of Psychology. Her responsibilities include sharing student internship opportunities and news about student-faculty research collaborations on the department’s blog, Facebook and Twitter accounts. She is also a student assistant in the University’s Archives and Special Collections. Crepeau’s plans after graduation: To “move people to action” and always stand for social justice.
